Digital video can be watched on a wide variety of different players and formats, QuickTime, Mpeg, Windows Media and Real Player are the most common examples of this. It would be impossible to watch full screen, high quality video as we see on the TV, due to current restrictions in connection speeds. Instead video is compressed in to a smaller size and embedded inside a webpage. Making it possible to watch quality video, delivered in a shorter period of time.
Sharing photos online and sending, for example, a photo of a holiday or someone's wedding as an email attachment is now easy and inexpensive. The same can be said for video. It is now possible to send video via email, keep a video journal and save all your favourite videos online.
Broadband usage is up 27% from last year and with government initiatives and phone operators offering increasingly cheaper connection deals, broadband is fast becoming the standard connection for millions of people.
Four out of ten people who connect to the internet use broadband and increasingly women are taking a bigger interest in the internet. 48% of the online internet population are women.
